The Polar Bear and The Pizza
My lovely hubby took me and my son out for a pizza dinner last week. Now you're probably thinking, ‘nothing too remarkable about that, Liz!' And you'd be right. Except for what our waitress did at the end of our meal.
Accompanying us to dinner wasย my little son's cuddly, white, polar bear teddy. He ‘shared' his pizza with the bear. Introduced it to the waitress, and made sure it had some water to drink. So it came as no surprise that, when asked what flavour of ice-cream he would like for his dessert, my little son requested a scoop of chocolate for polar bear, and a strawberry one for himself. The waitress smiled and left our table.
But what she came back with delighted our little boy's heart. A tiny, chocolate sundae in a cup for polar bear, and a beautifully prepared, strawberry topped ice-cream for Cameron. He was beaming from ear to ear as he helped his teddy bear to ‘eat' his sundae.
More was to come. When my husband's coffee arrived at the table, there was the cutest little teddy bear face peering out of the frothy white foam on top! Cameron squealed with delight and wonder at how his teddy's face had appeared in his daddy's coffee!
Small Acts of Kindness
Why am I telling you this story? Well, what that waitress did really resonated with me.ย She made a little boy's day. Sheย brought his teddy bear to life and went that extra mile to make us all smile.
It reminded me that it's the small acts of kindness that can make all the difference to another person. Being in tune with our customers, and putting them centre stage, can turn good customer service into something very special indeed.ย Whenever we fancy a pizza dinner, there's only one restaurant we'll go to. With polar bear, of course!
